Almost certainly DCS, but yeah flight simmers are distinct as being on average quite a bit older, also because it is a very expensive hobby, keyboard and $50 sticks don't cut it.

Sure, you're having fun, but have you considered plugging in a handful of peripherals and remapping controls?

Best cheapish add-on for flight games for me has been head tracking with the Smoothtrack app on my phone. Really fiddly, though.

Not sure if they have them in war thunder, but the 23mm and 37mm cannon alternate loadouts in il-2 sturmovik: great battles are great.

i do it with a keyboard and mouse though

Warthunder does have the IL-2-37 which is the 37mm and the ShKAS - but it is the slowest IL-2 with a gunner in-game. thing is still a floating tank though with all those steel plates around the cockpit and an excellent way to suffer through war thunder's currency grind for new planes at rank 2-3 which are the ideal ones for air battles anyways. I actually prefer the 1942 though with the smaller cannons and no turret or gunner - no one expects the IL-2 1942 to drop its 250kg payload, glacially climb to like like 1000m, and then just harass fighters by bleeding speed to turn out of their fire and hopefully cause them to whiff into an AAA or god forbid a teammate that actually pays attention.

Thrift store flight stick and used rudder pedals from eBay and you're good to go, track ir would be nice though but yeah. Grown up toys

Maybe you should have thought of that before becoming peasants! :maybe-later-kiddo:
