"judy" (all the epic employees call her judy) read an article about how employees that have shorter commutes are happier, which means that employees going to work at the (genuinely deranged, absolutely absurd) epic headquarters have to live within a certain radius of it. this shuts off living in half of the nearest large city. does your friend know that judy and her practices drive almost all epic employees to eventually quit? their turnover is insane. fuck epic, fuck judy.
Sorry, do you mean Madison or Milwaukee? All of Madison is within range and none of Milwaukee is. It absolutely sucks that she moved HQ even beyond Madison's boring and sleepy west side where there was plenty of room. It doubly sucks that she was sending 20%+ of her employees on flights every Monday pre-covid and thought putting up some solar panels would make a dent in the environmental impact of that.

Epic is easily the second worst EMR system made by the most miserable coders that have to keep changing shit because she demands it, in spite of every healthcare professional that ever has to use it constantly begging them to stop fucking changing it for no reason. It's notoriously and conspicuously the worst EMR system, a software category that's notoriously the worst type of software to use and the worst to work on as a developer.
Also most of the buildings on the campus are themed and extremely fucking tacky. Look at this goddamned eyesore. Imagine being forced to live in a student apartment with UW-Madison kids partying above, on both sides, and below you til 3 AM every night because you can't afford a million dollar McMansion, the only other type of housing within her living radius mandate. Then every day you have to go to work in a fucking Harry Potter castle or an Alice in Wonderland living room and then have to walk like 2 miles across a giant ass campus in the Wisconsin winter because your idiot boss demands you all have standups in a fucking treehouse. Coders are forced to go watch surgical procedures be done to embed with a doctor every so often, and then have to head back to the office and make the software WORSE for them to use because your boss has to be able to prove his team did a certain number of workflow changes and it doesn't actually matter that they're actively worse.

Nah nothing like that, they have a lot of special interests and sometimes do a lot of research into strange topics so i wouldn't put it past them to have just researched a bunch of billionares and picked a favorite, and again favorite like 'I like you I'll let you live the longest'
