Because most media for adults now is boring, soulless, gritty and depressing bullshit. People get that shit all day at work.
I dislike labeling things as "for adults" and "for kids". It's limiting and takes the magic out of life. Most things "for adults" are immature in a different way that bugs me.
It just comes across as desperately trying too hard to be taken seriously.
Adults finally embracing whimsy is one of the only good things about modern media. That doesn't make them baby brained, it makes them honest.

I especially hate the condescending "this entertainment is for babies" (their word choice) attitude if something isn't Gambo.
"Mature" big budget "prestige" entertainment would have been marketed directly toward horny teenagers decades ago.
