And left right when the liberals and conservatives started going at each other's throats.

It was fucking awesome. 10 out of 10. Would recommend.

reminds me of the time I argued with a lib about Cuba down to the point she insisted that Cuba should surrender to America's siege and accept forced regime change, because then the Cuban people would be allowed access to the resources that America was actively, illegally denying them, openly admitting that Cuba had the moral high ground, but that they should give in to their bully

It was both shocking and fascinating to hear her just... say it out loud

Why the hell would America allow them to have those resources? What is preventing Cuba from becoming another Haiti if they give in, just rotating puppet governments? That's literally the calculus that the Cuban government is making when they continue to put up resistance. I swear to God, libs can only think of a single thing at a time, never think of things in context to each other.

When me and my bf go to places we usually just charm everyone into agreeing with us through simple moral statements 🤷‍♀️

Low-key if you're buff as fuck I feel like people will 95% of the time agree with you

There's a certain confident vibe you gotta hit and you can really dominate a conversation.

Charisma is the term, gotta know when to give them some rope and when to guide them with that rope.

You either do the whole "gotcha" thing, or you can make them gotcha themselves

My roommate is basically a walking HR lib who generally thinks things are as good as they can get, will always side with ownership in any hypothetical, and whos personality largely tevolves around explaining why bad things are actually good. The rope thing is dead on, rather than alienate her with constant confrontation I use questions and framing to steer her in directions where that contrarian urge can be useful. Sometimes she'll repeat my own points to me a week later as if they were her own, and I always respond "shit, that's a good point."

tell a liberal you won't vote for the election and when they get upset, reveal you're a foreigner with no US citizenship

Always great being online e when an American election is happening and people get mad when you say you're not voting and it's like "I'm Canadian and my passport is expired. It would take so many crimes to vote in an American election "

Had some :brainworms: redditor tell me that I needed to vote for Biden living in a solid blue state because what if Trump rigged the election? If there were enough opposing votes he would be foiled, throw his hands in the air and admit defeat.

Also, Trump will wreck Brandon next go around.

I have to attend a wedding with my rich liberal relatives in a few months and I’m dreading this. I genuinely like them and recognize that the wedding is about them, not me, but the last time I saw them was pre-pandemic when I was a Bernie lib, and that made the situation tense enough. My cousin was going to vote for fucking Booker. My spouse and kids and I will be masked at this event and I’m pretty sure no one else will be, and this in itself will cause tension.

Depends on the audience, but I've found more often then not I don't initiate shit. And if that's the case, all bets are off. I can sit around for hours and not talk politics but if someone feels the need to coax me into political discourse, spare me your tears when you hear some uncomfortable truths.

Weddings are usually fun. I'm hoping your family keeps it light.

And good for you for wearing masks.
