Is this the place to admit that I have no idea what the emoji signifies?
gish gallop by somebody who knows the core of their argument is rotten so they have to throw up endless streams of word salad as a smokescreen
Thanks. But how did we get from here to there? (The only Zelda game I have played is Link to the Past.)
he's an asshole shopkeeper who laughs at the idea of giving Link any credit. literally 2 lines in the entire Faces of Evil game but obviously his cutscene has a lot of wild movement. Morshu as a meme dates back to like YTMND (I can remember exactly where and when I first watched morshu.ytmnd.com lol)
I've never considered to be like a 'debate pervert' kind of emoji but more in line with like the other 'capitalist' emojis we have
I think it was co-opted due to its visual resemblance to the "man explaining at whiteboard" meme
LOL please put some respect on Ibai Llanos' name, but yeah I see it now that you've pointed it out. Honestly kinda shocked we don't have it as an emoji already since we have the other popular similar ones used in that kind of context like
I think its signifies a debate pervert, but i could be wrong. While we're asking questions about emojis, what's the source for the ? I want to subject myself to psychic damage.
Lmao that is Alex Walker of Colorado. He's the Gay Democrat that was 'running' against Lauren Boebert in 2022 but only got like 9,000 votes in the Dem primary.
The emoji comes from this vid where he essentially tries to argue that "actually if you're voting for progressive candidates you're the reason why republicans keep winning - ITS not my fault my policies and opinions are basically republican-lite, you should vote for me because I am the gay democrat running against Lauren Boebert" - which people dogpiled on and it obviously didn't win him any votes: https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/1513618639840288774/pu/vid/576x1024/dPnCtaCdecu18ulF.mp4 (linking directly to the video on twitter because I don't wanna dig for it on his TikTok)
my fellow gay/bi men I am begging you to stop using that insufferable voice whenever you're criticizing something - it NEVER makes your argument stronger...
Thanks for the explaination, I have a new found appreciation for that emoji lmao
He was sacrificed for the greater good of Kissinger dying. It sucks but these things gotta happen sometimes.
Subject of the best copypasta this site has ever seen:
You really think you’re something huh? Strutting up and down the site like a cartoon dictator. Your insolence and sanctimonious self-righteousness knows no bounds. You’re a real fucking genius, huh? Glory be to UlyssesT, the holy moral authority of Hexbear Dot Net. You’re almost like the Confucius of Hexbear - trite bullshit disguised as sage wisdom and mindlessly quoted and repeated by the rest of the braindead tailist flock. Your “morality” is nothing more than a Nazi kangaroo court, you fascist fuck. You think you’re a philosopher? You’re nothing more than a Confucian-Hitlerian manchild.
it's like losing our main tech commentator and chief journalist of the techbro beat
Seeing people call one of my favorite posters cringe gives me hope that even I cringe as I am have hope
People keep saying BMF was cringe yet I still think he was the best of us
I think mods just preemptively ban him whenever he pops up again cuz he always ends up doing a sectarianism.
the best posters are always just the right amount of fucked up
I remember when he got called out for being hostile to tech workers, got in a big argument with mods, then backed down by saying exactly the same things about "bazingas" for the rest of his time here.
He was super vitriolic towards whoever caught his eye, and people just gave him a pass because it was aimed at reddit bros more often than at random hexbears.
God forbid you had undiagnosed autism or ADHD in school and were mistreated by educators, too -- he was always quick to chime in with a snide remark about "autodidacts" who had hangups because of "Mrs. Meanface," when it's like, yes you dense motherfucker, some of us did have a shitty time in the American public school system, because like it or not, capitalist entropy means some of the most horrible fucking people make it into teaching because they want to get paid to exert authority over children. I went through it as a kid, and I'm seeing it happen with my kid's current teacher right now.
His techbro takedowns were funny (if not repetitive), but he could be a complete asshole if you dared to have a rough time in the education system.
I remember when he got called out for being hostile to tech workers
I am a tech worker, so I speak with authority when I say we deserve it
Sorry other Hexbears, but I agree. Repeatedly saw him hit users out the blue with some real bad faith interpretation shit, I had him blocked for most the time.
i saw several people make some real missing stair ass excuses for him
Same, dude would leap to the most negative interpretation of anything. Funny power poster but I have to imagine he was to the rest of the fediverse as bmf is to us, just completely unhinged posting nobody would understand unless they were ten layers deep in self-referential irony
I really hope his kid's first words aren't "bazinga brain."
Yep, he's the only hexbear I've blocked, and I never even had a direct interaction with him.
I remember a UT post where someone wandered in off lemmy and they were like "what are 'treats' and 'bazinga-brains'?" and it had me irl laughing.
I know people have kinda turned on UT, but I always appreciated a good UT rant. They got unhinged sometimes, but it felt like part of the culture
He came across as being nurtured and educated in the ways of the redditor in order to effectively insult and demean the ways of the redditor. As a result he could never fully shake the stank of the redditor and would sometimes unfairly aim his ire onto hexbear users.
I think we should rename after him, as a way to recognize his contributions to this site.
He actually wrote and published a scifi book, right? Did anyone here read it? Was it good?
A trilogy, actually. I have it. Only read the first couple chapters of the first book before inevitably getting distracted by something else, but I remember liking what I read. I'll probably get back to it once I clear my backlog.
I like to think he'll come back with a further sharpened and incisive wit and a bit more forbearance toward exercising it.
