I think if you get rid of the Patriot Act you also get rid of the MCU by proxy. I don't know how, just trust me.
Has it been long enough that LoTR is no longer a beloved movie trilogy? Or is this hate for the shitty extended universe?
I think it is just the extended universe fatigue lol. I actually sat down and watched the 4k versions of the trilogy awhile back and kept remarking to my roommate that I'd forgotten how solid each film is by itself, compared to like The Hobbit trilogy where each as a standalone film (besides maybe the first) is terrible and as a trilogy is subpar at best.
About 40% of the US population are Xers or Millenials so I think it's fair to say a lot of people still think highly of the 2001 LotR trilogy.
Is it film LOTR or book LOTR? If it's the books, I'd pick those, not because I hate LOTR (it's good) but because kicking that pillar out would have a domino effect on fantasy as a whole possibly yeeting both Gambo and TERF Wizard Book from reality.
I'm keeping Lord of the Rings and Starwars and throwing the rest in a wood chipper.
The Patriot Act is easily the worst choice because the NSA was already spying on people before the Patriot Act even existed lol
