      yes

This kind of “crab mentality” is actually a sophisticated coping mechanism suitable for an environment in which no other course of action seems viable. Cognitive dissonance, the kind that eventually spurs one into becoming intolerant of the status quo and into action, is initially unpleasant and scary for everybody. In this way, we can begin to understand the benefit that “victims” of propaganda derive from carelessly “spreading awareness.” Their efforts feed an ambient propaganda haze of controversy and scandal and wariness that suffocates any painful optimism (or jealousy) and ensuing sense of duty one might otherwise feel from a casual glance at the amazing things happening elsewhere. People aren’t “falling” for atrocity propaganda; they’re eagerly seeking it out, like a soothing balm.

Smart move on the state dept's part, considering accusing someone of being a "genocide denier" is about the most heinous thing you can call someone casually

Unless it's a genocide that's fashionable or reached an arbitrary statute of limitation

"Uhhh sorry but everyone who did the genocide already died so we have no choice but to let their descendents reap the benefits of said genocide in perpetuity with no recompense to the descendants of the victims. Those are the rules."

My favorite part was the US taking the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement off the terrorist list in time to stoke the narrative.

I imagine there's no uyghers left now, given how many people were saying it was the next holocaust. Or perhaps libs believe they stopped this holocaust by complaining about it loudly on twitter. idk

the season wrap-up for that arc was a year ago. once this season is over, im thinking the showrunners are gonna start an arc that incorporates the villains from all the past arcs in an attempt to provide closure

I managed to at least make libs and even some conservatives stop and think, when "protests against Covid measures", sorry against "Xi's dictatorship", were shown all over the western mainstream media.

As it happens, one protest was also in Xinjiang, where about 10(?) people died in a fire because of the lockdown measures. So, my questions to them was, "How can there even be protests, if China is actively genociding them". Also, "If they are protesting about 10 people killed by lockdown, how come they aren't protesting about genocide of thousands, even millions" ?

It actually made people think and some were even nodding in a silent agreement.
