There are so many transphobes who talk about "being forced to participate in a lie". There are actually religious folks who have angst over the idea that they may have to use someone's preferred pronouns at work; and if they do are they willing to "lose their jobs over their beliefs".
What's especially ridiculous is that no one is actually forcing them to "participate in a lie". Someone living their life as trans literally has ZERO impact on the life of a transphobe. None whatsoever. You're allowed to hold as bigoted and transphobic beliefs that you want in this country. Even from a transphobes view, I can only think of 2 instances where they are even remotely "forced to participate in a lie":
Your employer tells you you have to use a coworker's preferred pronouns. Yes, at your job you are forced to treat others with respect. No one cares about your personal beliefs about others, you just have to be respectful. Plenty of religious conservatives think it's wrong for a woman to lead a man, but try telling your female boss you're not going to do what she says. Part of living in society means your personal beliefs take a back seat to respect all the time.
The school your kids go to is accepting of trans kids and tells kids it's OK to be trans. Yeah, OK, good. That's how it should be. We don't stress over the fact that schools don't teach Young Earth Creationism alongside evolution anymore. Similarly I don't really care if this upsets transphobes, as a society we're moving on, deal with it.
But what if we just forced everyone to comply with my shitty beliefs instead 🤔
Some people very much stress over not teaching creationism in schools
Yes, and we shouldn't coddle their feelings one bit.
