Reading this inspires particular :lathe-of-heaven: thoughts.

Absolutely insidous evil bastards who know exactly how fanatically evil they are.

    Christianity is a death cult.

If you can toss Maia a few coin for publishing the email dump and parsing through some of the goul's orgs. Sure that kind of trench work leaves a scar.

It's frightening that both the complete, deliberate genocidality is there and that they sincerely believe their own propaganda.

Some participants in the chains argued over whether it undermined their cause to work with a trans activist who opposed medical transition for children but not adults. “Their endorsements come with a hitch: they expect everyone to play make believe that they really are the opposite sex and have compelled pronouns and all that garbage,” Shupe wrote.

    :wonder-who-thats-for:

Here's a thought, maybe don't fucking compromise with fascists?

But wow. Fucking horrifying article. Real glad a bunch of :brainworms: have so much sway in the government. It just feels like such an uphill battle when they have so much funding and backup from all these powerful groups.

Here’s a thought, maybe don’t fucking compromise with fascists?

Truscum do not just compromise with fascists, they are fascists. These people have completely internalized all the junk science of quacks like Ray Blanchard and think that being one of the good ones is not only a viable option, but the right thing to do. Because they already were chuds pre-transition and transmedicalism is how they reconcile their own transness with their ideology.

You can see the same in all of the vocal "detransitioners". It's important here to note that the vast majority of the (very few) people who regret their transition do not do so out of changing their mind about their gender identity, but because they cannot handle the extreme amounts of transphobia they are confronted with. They go into hiding again because they have been hurt and traumatized in the most horrible ways. But you never hear their heartbreaking stories when detransition comes up in the media. That's about 80% of all detransitioners, which already make up a tiny minority of less than 1% of al adult trans people. But whenever detranstion gets brought up in the media, it is not only portrayed wrongly as something else than the fringe phenomenon it actually is, the voices of people who couldn't take the chance to live as their true self get ignored.

You instead hear the stories of people like Keira Bell or Sabeth Blank or Elisa Mae Shupe (the latter is mentioned in the article) and somehow, every single one of them has these pronounced right wing and anti-trans views. And they seriously expect us not to see their "detransition" as a case of their ideology taking over and making them repress again. Shupe secretly went back on DIY hormones while she was still a detrans activist, had medical complications because she dosed the estradiole way too high and has now renounced her anti-trans views and is transitioning and living as a nonbinary transfem again. What was "just a phase" for her was believing she may not actually be trans. These people all suffer from massive internalized transphobia. I am not saying there aren't people who have been wrong about their gender identity, but whenever i see adults making the claim they transitioned out of a mistake, it's folks like this.

Thank you for writing this. The detrans stuff is exactly the same as the ex-gay stuff from the 90s, except with perhaps more malice. The thing is, even back in the day most people kind of knew that ex-gay wasn't a thing, and ex-gay christians seeing male sex workers on the side or something was a cultural trope. People don't have that awareness with detrans, they take it more seriously. It's super frustrating.

There are so many transphobes who talk about "being forced to participate in a lie". There are actually religious folks who have angst over the idea that they may have to use someone's preferred pronouns at work; and if they do are they willing to "lose their jobs over their beliefs".

What's especially ridiculous is that no one is actually forcing them to "participate in a lie". Someone living their life as trans literally has ZERO impact on the life of a transphobe. None whatsoever. You're allowed to hold as bigoted and transphobic beliefs that you want in this country. Even from a transphobes view, I can only think of 2 instances where they are even remotely "forced to participate in a lie":

      1. Your employer tells you you have to use a coworker's preferred pronouns. Yes, at your job you are forced to treat others with respect. No one cares about your personal beliefs about others, you just have to be respectful. Plenty of religious conservatives think it's wrong for a woman to lead a man, but try telling your female boss you're not going to do what she says. Part of living in society means your personal beliefs take a back seat to respect all the time.

      2. The school your kids go to is accepting of trans kids and tells kids it's OK to be trans. Yeah, OK, good. That's how it should be. We don't stress over the fact that schools don't teach Young Earth Creationism alongside evolution anymore. Similarly I don't really care if this upsets transphobes, as a society we're moving on, deal with it.

Adventure Time[c] is an American fantasy animated television series created by Pendleton Ward for Cartoon Network and distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television. The series follows the adventures of a boy named Finn (Jeremy Shada) and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake (John DiMaggio)—a dog with the magical power to change size and shape at will. Finn and Jake live in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo, where they interact with Princess Bubblegum (Hynden Walch), the Ice King (Tom Kenny), Marceline (Olivia Olson), BMO (Niki Yang), and others. The series is based on a 2007 short film that aired on Nicktoons. After the short became a viral hit on the Internet, Nickelodeon's executives passed on its option before Cartoon Network commissioned a full-length series from Fred Seibert and Ward, which was previewed on March 11, 2010. The same year, the series premiered on Cartoon Network on April 5, and ended its eight-year run on September 3, 2018.
