At this point there's too many layers of damning/exonerating documentaries and investigations that I really have no clue, so I've just marked it down as "yeah that whole thing sucks"

For some reason my brain decided to apply this to a bunch of different topics and its really funny. Space Landing. Tupac. Holodomor.

you ever hear that story about how Joe Jackson broke into his own house at night wearing a gorilla mask and scared the shit out of his kids to teach them some dumb lesson

I feel like being part of the Jackson five basically robbed him of his childhood. You can see a lot of his actions toward the end of his life were aimed at emulating it, with the big amusement park and all.

I think he did spend time with kids in a way that would seem creepy to most people. I don't think he did it because he was a predator.

He was definitely pedo, and he himself probably had a history of being abused.

Not necessarily or always. I'm saying that this was the case in this instance.

I think the research shows little to correlation towards victims becoming abusers iirc which would mean that MJs childhood experiences aren't really relevant.

I'm a dumbass and don't know shit but I like the Kat Williams bit where he talks about his house is full of things women like, because he's attracted to women. Jackson had stuff in his house that kids like.

Also Jackson was really musically gifted but he was also so extravagantly wealthy that I'd probably believe any weird shit about him

no lol he was definitely a pedo e: hmm i'm gonna go ahead and retract my certainty here, i stg i remember articles about child pornography being found on his computer after he died but looking any further into all of this is a bit too much for today.

whether or not he was a child molester as well idk bc i never paid him much mind but between what little i know of his upbringing and the story in general i'd wager he was probably severely traumatized by his childhood and never grew up mentally

The comment you linked has been stuck in my head for 10 years now (just found out it's been that long by opening your link).

Idk what's true, but people should read it before replying.

Edit: here's the link again for the convenience of the audience

      first I've heard of this

There's taped conversations between the father and step-father where the father lays out his entire plan.

“And if I go through with this, I win big-time. There’s no way I lose. I’ve checked that inside out. I will get everything I want, and they will be destroyed forever. June will lose [custody of the son]…and Michael’s career will be over.”

I don't know and never will for sure, but after seeing some of his (alleged, I suppose) victims talk candidly and with very specific details.... I believe them.

I was more "on the fence" about it leaning towards "probably innocent" because I knew there were some obviously false claims made against Jackson, like the one mentioned in the comment OP linked. But a couple years ago I watched the 2019 documentary series Leaving Neverland (made long after the comment in the link was written) and my mind was changed. Again, seeing some of the men who say they were molested by him speak on it now, even when they have arguably very little to gain from doing so, yeah I believe he really did do those things.

E: The trailer for the doc series I'm talking about.

Of course he was framed, but the comments in this thread of people who kinda sorta remember all of this damning evidence that never actually existed is proof positive of the power of the media to destroy a person's reputation and legacy.

We know now post-Epstein what rich pedos get up to and what it looks like. Jackson running an amusement park in his backyard and being close to a few of the thousands of kids he helped with his fortune is not that, not even close. You could say that it was inappropriate, speculate that he was emotionally stunted, sure - but he wasn't a pedo, not even a little bit.

Frankly, I think that if, say, Janet Jackson did all of the exact same shit Michael did we would all talk about what a great and caring person she is. Part of what crucified Michael is our culture's universal belief that all men are predators and that they can't have positive relationships with kids.

Almost every one of his accusers are either grifters or children of grifting parents.

We know now post-Epstein what rich pedos get up to and what it looks like.

An even better example is Jimmy Savile, the nonce who had his own TV show and was a celebrity in his own right. He also had connections with the royals to the point where the BBC constantly defended him and helped cover up his noncery.

Culkin said he spent the night in Jackson's bed 10 times “at most” before they traveled together to Bermuda in June 1991, when Culkin was 10 years old. He also confirmed that Jackson gave him a Rolex watch at the age of 11 and that they would talk on the phone for several hours at a time

His defenders focus on the few cases where it looks like parents were out for money, but he was definitely a nonce
