Step one: Destroy your manufacturing sector by sanctioning your main energy supplier and replacing it with a way more expensive one.

    Step two: ???

Step three: 8% growth and a new German miracle

First you must cut your economy by 50%, and then you can grow it back to 54% of what it was before... and voila, 8% growth!

The shutdown of nuclear energy was not only pandering to the rad/libs of the Green Party and similar, but also a big gift to the mining giant RWE, who made a shitton of money off of it.

What he didn't specify is that its only 8% growth in the financial sector......among certain assets classes.....among certain friends....across the Atlantic

This is genuinely hilarious that anyone believes this, but hey if it gets them to invest in climate stuff then please keep believing 8% growth is possible!

The FDP is gonna throw a big fit if they'll actually attempt that... or increase the deficit for any other reason than militarization or gifts for the rich/the car industry. And with restrictive renewable energy placement laws in places like Bavaria, it's barely even possible.

Yeah, I do think that 8%+ are possible for what climate change investment can produce. I don't think that Germany will do that, not only cause of the debt ceiling and neoliberalism which makes that untouchable.

Olaf Scholz, a few days ago, morning: Hmm, today I will claim to bring growth higher than in China, reduce the unemployment to below 1% and race to reach climate goals despite boasting about coal power and LNG terminals a few months ago

He’ll just be seen as an impotent liar when this inevitably does not happen.

A modern lib politician could murder someone on camera and the manufacturing consent machine would have the people forget about it within a few weeks.

This feels like what you end up with if you get high on your own supply. Decades of the narrative germany was rebuilt by nothing but hard work and everybody actually forgets the marshall plan.

I guess this've been coming. People go apeshit whenever I point out their grandparent's had nothing but the shirts on their backs and literally billions of dollars.

Has he got a backroom deal with China since he's expecting the same growth numbers? Gürtel und Straße incoming

In the funniest diplomatic maneuver post-war, german chancellor Olaf Scholz pulls a Vulcan, Virginia and turns to the foreign aid office of the Peoples Republic of China to marshall plan germany yet again
