Been slacking on these for a bit, sorry all!

Title explains it - how have you been? What's been going on for ya lately? Got anything cool you wanna talk about? Need an ear? This is the thread!

Remember you are loved :Stalin-heart:

I started Wellbutrin a few days ago, so that's a thing my brain is currently adjusting too. I've noticed it's made conversations a little more difficult for me to hold, but if I pair it with a can of Monster or something, god DAMN do I feel productive. Been getting out and about the past few weekends has been good - been seeing friends and stuff. Playing a show on Friday. Good stuff, things just feel a little strange cause of the meds.

Hope you've all been well!

I managed to score a deal on one of my short list of "holy grail" guitar amps last week, and when it finally came, two of the three channels weren't working. Over the weekend, I tore the bastard apart and gave everything a once-over to make sure it didn't have any bulging electrolytic capacitors or evidence of magic smoke escaping, and cleaned up all of the tube sockets with some electrical contact cleaner spray (and Deoxit on the power tube sockets). While I was in there, I hosed the front panel controls with some Deoxit too, which was interesting since this thing has some stacked potentiometers -- I wasn't sure if it was going to get into them enough to get the crunk off of the wipers, but apparently it worked.

Gave it a while to air out/for the Deoxit to dry, reassembled everything (and didn't have leftover parts!), plugged it in, and it's everything I'd hoped for. This may be the first time I've plugged my guitar into something and spent 20 minutes grinning like a jackass.

The EL34 version of the EVH 5150 III 50 watt. Apparently the EL34 version's blue channel differs from the 6L6 model by adding an inexplicable low-pass filter capacitor after the last stage of the preamp circuit, which has pissed off innumerable internet guitar nerds. I'm actually digging it, because it means you can boost it with overly harsh/bright-sounding drives and it smooths out a lot of top-end fizz without having to fuck with the treble or presence controls. In other words, it dooms. :anarchist-occult:

Nice! I rock a Matamp GT120 and a NMV Sunn Model T from a local builder. Currently on the hunt for a cab that agrees with me. Glad you're digging the amp!

Oh, good stuff! Me too. I've had good results loading my own with a Seismic Audio 2x12 "Luke" series oversized cab. I currently have an Eminence Governor (think V30 without the 5 kHz "ice pick") and Man-O-War (Emi take on the G12T75) in there, and they make a pretty good pairing for thrash/death/noodling. I'm half-tempted to get another one and try an Emi DV77 with either a Swamp Thang or a Neo Creamback in there.

Nice! Those both sound like good combos! RIght now I've got some old EVM speakers in one cab, some Earth 2x15s in old Sunn enclosures, and one cab with Alnico Blue Dogs.
