Reason given is that some unspecified amount of quoted experts contacted the publisher protesting that they had been quoted either without their consent and/or had their quotes mischaracterized/presented out of context.

My interpretation of this is that its not necessarily that anyone directly debunked the claims within.

But that the author has played fast and loose with identifiable sources enough for them to complain directly to the publisher, which fundamentally calls into question the conduct with other parts like anonymous sources that are harder to verify and challenge.

So the publisher is not eager to sit around for someone to dig up even more misconduct and errors in a way that will reflect badly on them publicly, and got ahead of that scenario.

        Yeah obviously that too.

Mainly posted this because for one I know some people at least partially took these articles claims seriously on here, and also I added that interpretation cause I know people like to exaggerate stuff like this with "They admit they lied!" or something like that.

I’m guessing you were referring to the “Lock out these refugee thugs. Rape outrage the last straw as migrants flout our laws”

What you haven’t seen is below that it saids “Taken from the Herald Sun”

            Here’s the article

            https://www.crikey.com.au/2007/02/21/the-latest-hot-button-issue-scary-sudanese-people/

Although I can’t read the entire article, given the initial tone and Crikey’s history, I’m going to say it’s going to be critical of the right wing media framing

Read the analysis from Media Bias Fact Check

            https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/crikey/

Given this article was from 2007, well before Crikey’s sale, I’m going to say that yes it was a credible news source then.

Is your excuse that this is just how racist the average Australian is? Because you'd be right, but it's not a great defense.
