Unless it’s a service animal, I don’t like when dogs are in public buildings. Tired of trying to buy food at the grocery store but having to dodge dogs and avoid stepping over their leashes. This anger is mostly directed at their owners as I’m skittish around dogs I don’t know.
The integration of specialized therapeutic language into mainstream discourse is one of the worst things about our current cultural discourse

It's been blowing up lately, but there are some examples that go further back, like calling "scary people" psychotic, or generally using psychosis and psychopathy as synonyms. I'm sure there are other examples, this one just came to mind first.
Tbf I think thats one of those things thats been going on for at as long as science has been made popular. For most ableist insults for example, they started out as scientific language that people started using until it was just always an insult, then they had to invent a new science word to sound fancier.
oh yeah this has been ongoing since actual boomers were first being born
Same with scientific language. Having to hear "evolution is just a theory" one more time will make my brain explode. Gravity is also "just" a fucking theory evangelicals. Theory in science means something completely different
My favorite thing has been the popularization and, as such, complete misuse of the term 'gaslighting'.
No, it's not just when someone lies to you. It's when they are trying to convince you that you are having a mental breakdown and cannot trust your own senses.
Yeah like everyone's traumatized. Ok so tell me about how life threatening that old lady yelling at you was
