I'm disappointed how people here seem to belittling this phenomenon. As a transwoman this is one of the most dysphoria-inducing experiences I have every month, I really hope people start to take this more seriously.

In Dutch it came from a combination of the already existing insult 'kackerlacker' and the Portuguese word 'cacalacca', coming from the Arawak (?) 'kakalaka'.
I don't speak Spanish so I can't look at the Spanish etymology really, but the Dutch etymologiebank does mention that the Spanish most likely originates from either the Portuguese or the original Carribean language
