The majority of the population doesn’t want all abortions to be illegal. It’s just that anti-choice people are well organized. We’d probably wind up with a national ban after 20 weeks except to protect the life of the mother because that’s about where the populace is. Or leaving it up to federalism it would just be banned completely in the more religious states.
Yes. So blaming it on the Supreme Court is dumb. The only reason abortion even survived this long is because of the courts. In a parliamentary system it would’ve been gone after the first conservative supermajority.
