Apparently there’s an issue [https://sh.itjust.works/post/37624] with some instances banning users for criticizing authoritarian governments. Is lemmy.world a safe place to criticize governments?
If you sort by "all" (which means "all instances federated with this one") yes, but the main page would be the same except with comments from federated users (who can be banned).
lemmy.world is a mixed bag, with some genuinely good people on it (and some fucking awful ones). Someone with "beehaw" or "sopuli.xyz" is going to 100% be an insufferable radlib or a mark that got pulled in.
You kinda can, but it's only been like 3 days so give the instances a couple of months to actually develop a "local culture" like we have for the past 3 years or so (arguably even going back further than that).
Right now it's a spectrum of "how much do you hate the Lemmy devs' politics?"
It's fun to follow along with in real time tbh, I encourage you to fire up an account and jump in to see what's up.
So let me get this right. Federating would mean we would get crossposts of lots of racist and transphobic liberals?

So username@lemmyinstanceurl.domain will basically function like that reddit add on from years ago that identified all the chuds
for example @lemmyworld = radlib right?

There’s definitely some names I’m starting to see that need bullying
