Who we federate with means whose posts will show up on hexbear. If we federate with beehaw you'll come here one day and see posts about the evil genocide denying tankies all over the front page.
(That won't happen because beehaw won't federate with us but just for example)
You can still sort by local and only see Hexbear posts even if this instance is federated with others
