Besides the horrifying parts (fascist conservative dictatorship, proscriptions, mass murder), it's hilarious to me because what Sulla did didn't even work; the post-Sulla settlement dissolved when Caesar crossed the Rubicon 30 years later.
In effect Musk is saying "we need to do mass murder to stem the liberal tide, but then get washed away by that very same tide within a generation," anyone with actual historical knowledge of this period would say this makes zero sense.
No Musk stan is capable of conceiving something as alien to them as 30 years in the future. They will just insist that the singularity will happen by them.

Give Musk's disowned daughter an Eva unit ASAP
it's the nerd equivalent of Cthulu waking up
But that's already a nerd thing.
that's how nerdy the singularity people are. The Cthulu people have read a fiction book (that isn't harry potter fanfiction about being insufferable) and that makes them less nerdy
A cool nerd thing tho

To his credit, he did grow up and recanted his racism, I believe.

Wont argue that :yea:
Old Kurzweilian definition of singularity was the birth of true AI, the point past which any prediction of the future was inherently impossible.
Now, it's, I dunno, when you can run all society off some techbroified algorithm.
I think the defining moment of it is supposed to be technology driving itself - ie the first true AI designs its own improvements, which designs its own improvements, etc etc faster than the speed that people can keep up and tech itself becomes the driving force of civilization instead of politics/material forces.
As a marxist, I postulate that the reason people focus on the idea of plugging themselves into The Matrix is because we all feel the pinch of society getting worse and imagining an escape is attractive to people.

Their version of the singularity is technofeudalism with them as the lords

Just like how patriarchy hurts men, capitalism hurts the rich. I'm not sparing any tears for Elon Musk but he would absolutely be a happier and more fulfilled person under socialism.

I've always considered "technological singularity" to mean a point where some technology exists that fundamentally changes humanity in a way that we can't really go back from, which just means we've had plenty of them so far. We're not ever going to forget about electricity, the same way we'll never forget about fire or writing. It's just too fucking useful.
