The longest movie ever made was a 2012 Swedish movie called "logistics" which follows the production of a pedometer in real time but also in reverse, the movie is 51,420 minutes (857 hours or 35 days and 17 hours).

The longest proper cinematic film is black and white 2019 Bangladeshi film called Amra Ekta Cinema Banabo (We Will Make A Film in english, the movie was also called "Innocence" in promotional material.) and has a run time of 1265 min (21 hours and 5 minutes). The plot is a little convoluted, but its basically a drama that takes place in the aftermath of the Bangladesh Liberation War.

Here is a brief plot synopsis for anyone who is curious: https://filmfreeway.com/AmraEktaCinemaBanaboTheInnocence-21hrs

i just watched Avatar: Way of the Whatever. 3 hours 20 minutes. 2long4me. i was looking up the franchise entry on wiki and apparently there are plans to do Avatar 3, 4 & 5. and they already finished filming 3, but with all the bullshit it's not coming out until like December 2025.

i only bring this up because, it had this line in it:

In December 2022, shortly after Avatar: The Way of Water was released, it was revealed that James Cameron's first cut of Avatar 3 had a running time of nine hours.

LMAO. shut the fuck up, jimmy. part of what makes someone a good story teller is being able to fucking edit the goddamn story, grandpa simpson. if you're making a movie, you get 90 minutes. if you want to go for 120-130 minutes, it better be motherfucking Terminator 2 or goddamn Aliens.

The Forgotten Space is on Kanopy. I just added it to my list. And it looks like I can find Ascension on the Solidarity Cinema archive. Cool deal.

the six-part, 14.5-hour Argentine "movie" La Flor is worth your time esp if you like dry surreal humour and weird no-budget genre explorations. best staggered over 4-5 nights tho

There's a six hour silent Chinese film that's very good and based on an old Chinese play. Problem is finding the time to watch it in one sitting.
