I can't find it but I vaguely remember Biden doing a photo op during the Floyd uprisings with some black protestors who meekly shout out "save us, save us!" and he poses with them. Sure Jack, I'll save you, [save you]: guts affirmative action.

I sympathize tremendously with your sentiment. The big problem is we all have to go at once, and organizing towards that end is a death sentence particularly in the digital panopticon. So you either have to have the courage of a lion (John brown) or put your hope into liberal reform like reparations. Even that is too “radical” for mainstream liberals.

It’s hard to see a way forward. It is a massive, multifaceted beast. The great satan.

What you’ve said here and your other comment is so spot on. I’m white, and being around other white people makes me feel like I’m losing my mind. Because everything you said is so true. So many white folks have such hatred of blacks folks. But if you dare highlight these facts around white people holy shit, will they get mad. It’s like, we all know how racist white folks in this country are but since white folks are rarely so explicit about it, it creates this layer of plausible deniability in them. If you polled white America and you could guarantee the results would be secret, 0.1% would admit to being racist, even though we know racism is way more pervasive than that.

The only way i see for the United States to cleanse itself of its historical injustice right now, the only way I'd see it's constitutional order as anything other than built on the need to maintain anti-blackness for peace, is if it finally denied that peace and renewed reconstruction.

Nah, there will never be justice on stolen land. The whole place has gotta go.

I've been trying to encourage the black students in my classes to try to get into college (with as many grants as I can possibly turn them towards; I can't in good conscience recommend most student loans) and I think a lot of them, next semester, are going to be able to correctly point at this current event and say "why bother?" doomer

I wish I could do more than care. I've considered outright lying to some students about their chances and prospects in the hopes they beat the odds, but the best I can do is put the most positive framing I can on a bleak situation. "Yeah, it sucks and the odds are stacked against you, but..."
