Why the fuck would everyday Russians use dollars in the first place two years after the currency was rendered useless in Russia?

Remeber they don't hate russians just the government which is why they've had a literally dehumanizing term for all russians since 6 hours after the war started.

I love how Germans immediately jump to show their ass like their distance from genocide, both morally and temporally, ISN'T three generations max; like they're not an eagerly-waterbearing vassal to the Amerikan Reich.

All their humblebragging fake contrition about the crimes of that guilty land goes right out the window as soon as the chance to do it all again comes up, then it's all orcs this and terrorists that. They're like an alcoholic falling off the wagon. It wouldn't be quite so ennervating if they weren't so fucking condescending the rest of the time when they're not in genocide mode.

It's like talking to a redditor who's also a werewolf- I'm not sure which form I hate more but I definitely know they have zero right to be this smug with guts in their teeth.

Germany becoming a vassal state of the US is not really something I saw happening. I know our values align often, but their national personality seems less in line with ours

I blame the rapport that used to exist between that absolute war criminal minstrel Obama and Merkel honestly, that's when I saw the threads start binding. For all the absolute EARNED mess I talk on Barack, I won't deny-- he's one hell of an orator, and he proved people WILL cozy up to a talented orator if his talking benefits you when you're at his table.

Oh, definitely. I don't pay a lot of attention to what Germany is up to, but I remember thinking it was weird that they were getting so chummy. Part of me feels like Germany hasn't been shunned enough yet. There are still people alive that remember WWII. On the other hand, I wish we could move on from the neoliberal era and all get along and sing the internationale together.

germany was less a function of convergent interests (compare the US supporting Anglo-French empire post ww2) and more the direct military occupation, that is still there

Actually it is Germany who is in desperate need of the dollar, not Russia.

The euro is fast becoming irrelevant in global economy, and after losing Nord Stream, they now need to spend dollars (not euros) to import energy from America:

    Show

The EU, especially Germany, has lost its energy and monetary sovereignty since Ukraine and they now have to earn US dollars to survive.

All of this is just projection. Keep the dollar banknote to yourself in case you need it one day.

It’s funny, of all the anti-China and anti-US collapse rhetoric from both sides, the one thing I’m certain I will see in my lifetime is the euro turned irrelevant, if not disappeared completely.

Obama’s QE2 (quantitative easing). As the US was mired in the 2009 global financial crisis, near the end of 2010, QE2 created $600 billion dollars to save the banking sector from failing. This created a high risk of commodity price inflation overseas, which would hit net exporter countries like China particularly hard since they import a lot of raw materials for their manufacturing sector.

China stopped buying USD and went into purchasing eurozone debt instead, because propping up the USD would only make their producer price more expensive. As the QE2 came to an end and the inflation was not as bad as everyone thought, China ditched the euro and resumed the USD purchase again.

That may well be true, but also true of all currencies that are about as useful to Russians as a Macedenonian Denar. The dollar is becoming increasingly useless worldwide.

Oh no no. Especially during the early stages of the war, calling Russians "orcs" was practically the standard lingo. The whole reason why I grew disillusioned with the anglos over the war was that I was horrified by how extremely genocidal Europeans had become practically overnight. When people on "my side" were chanting for the wholesale extermination of Russians, I had a "are we the baddies" moment basically.

For me it was this and honestly it was coupled with wondering why every single combat footage video was from the Ukranian pov and why after a few months of what was being painted as a completely one sided battle the Ukrainians weren't making any advances.

Seems weird that the only country with functional weapons being outfitted by every single nato country was having such a hard time against people that allegedly didn't know what a toilet was.

Then it was getting banned because I said it wasn't good to give unrestricted weapons to dudes with black sun patches on their uniform yelling "die f*****s" in every video.

Having libs explain to me that I didn't understand the context of why the f slur wasn't a big deal in Ukraine was a real mask off moment.

Oh it's been a long time before that in general that's just what flipped me from 50/50 to actively opposing what was happening.

9/11 was a big day for me because it's the first day I actively watched the news after getting sent home from school.

And then a couple months later nobody could come up with an explanation for why we were invading Iraq that made any sense to 8 year old me.

"So they're the ones that attacked us?"

            "Well no, but you see...."

"Then why are we going to war with them?"

            "Welllll.... you see....."

Then I started noticing a pattern that cause and effect didn't really seem to have anything to do with decision making.

Ukrainians have only been granted "white" status temporarily by Western liberals. To get their real thoughts on Ukrainians, go look up the analytics on google searches for "Ukraine porn" for the past 5 years.

They just see Ukrainians as a fetish.
