I think it puts you up against a weird line for the short period where it's relevant. If you use the rule anytime between like 25-40, you're just gonna feel like you're dating a child and that's weird. Technically nothing wrong with it, but I just don't understand how you'd relate. Once all parties are above like late 20s or early 30s, its whatever and who cares.

Just ran the math and I would personally not date a 23 year old. I honestly think life stages are the most important thing vs the age gap in a vacuum. Like later-mid-20s and onward to me is "firmly an adult" even if there are def experiential differences that can crop up.

I mean that depends on other factors as well. The 24 year old may have never matured and just lived off a trust fund and was a frat bro whereas the 19 year old may have been working a part time job while attending community college.
