The secret is to show a bit of the content for a few moments. Long enough for a bot to read enough of it to get the gist, but neither enough content nor for long enough to be worthwhile for a human. Same strategy as a news site paywall, "Sure here's the thing you were rea-WHOOAAA HAHA GOTCHA ACTUALLY A PAYWALL!"
