I know a lot of this money just gets siphoned off into green tech firms anyway, but something that I'm actually proud of Britain for is how we've gotten rid of coal and opened up all sorts of windfarms and dams. 40% renewable energy for a nation is no mean feat.

Now we're going to go backwards. And the money won't even go somewhere else useful. It'll get scraped by Tory organisations and schemes like sending immigrants to Rwanda. NHS and education won't see a scrap of it.

Aren’t you guys having like, an energy crisis bc you can’t buy gas from Russia? Wouldn’t building more renewable energy just be like, the obvious smart thing to do?

You jest, but it seems like 70% of anti-environmentalist arguments are just an emotional attachment to pollution. When I was in sixth grade, we watched a video talking about climate change and the actions on mitigating it, and the video both-sides it by saying "but on another hand, are we willing to give up our American way of life?"

Not me mentally screaming "YES! This country is uncultured dogshit!"

This doesn't mean that Britain is going to stop doing things domestically, particularly because doing domestic renewals is part of the British bougies' long term propaganda plan. Britain has been positioning itself as "climate leader" for a long time on the back of things like the royal family's wishes, they know damn well how serious the issue is and how it will impact their survival in the future. Blame will be thrown and it will come their way.

Unlike the usual bourgeoisie who are disconnected from longterm responsibility, the royal family is scared shitless about longterm issues because they aren't disconnected from blame and can be much more easily thrown out when the country cooks.

This is about stopping the funding they do abroad. Which just goes to show that the domestic renewals they do are about self protection not about really genuinely saving the climate.

pssst. Hey, you know what might actually help save the climate?

      spoiler

A nationalized rail network. You know, one with central planning, expansion, and cheap fares. Maybe even running more freight trains so there aren't lorries everywhere.

No no no that would mean that the trains actually run. You see, right now the trains aren't running at all because they're on strike due to all the shitty private decisions, which is much better for the climate.

Someone needs to deal with the Iron Islands already, theyve been raiding up and down the coast for far too long.
