is it gonna be pretty simple to make, like just an MMORPG or something easy like that?
Yes!, I'm thinking a souls-like with NFTs but in an aliens-invaded Far West! It would be like a mix of Rome Total War, Call of Duty, City Skylines, Disco Elysium, Portal and Minecraft also will have an iddle minigame, you get the idea.
my uncle works at ubisoft and they're making a game like this for the Switch 2
This sounds great. Maybe check out Fiver to get some engine devs who can make your own and not be LAZY and use something like Unreal, Unity, or actually communism Godot.
Yeah, good idea. I'm not a total coding newbie either, I once made a cool mod for Oblivion, a badass shinny-purple sword, and also use SQL sometimes.
Tho the sword thing I made it using other dude's mod but changed the color.
I'm on it, should have the coding done by Sunday. does 60/40 split of the profits sound fair to you?
Hmm, idk your job been easied a lot thanks to ChatGPT lately, I'm currently making a lot of artwork prompting Dream.ai, which is like half the work
You're right, plus you've clearly worked very hard on the idea. I'll just do it for exposure and you can keep the profit.
Indeed, I've thinking about this for a long time, I would still need some Dungeon Masters to pitch in their campaigns ideas to write the missions, or maybe I could just look up r/writingprompts for it, no need to mention their names if they already posted away their authors rights
If enough people want to do it for the exposure just hold an NFT raffle. Every NFT you buy increases your odds of getting picked for the dev team while supporting the project. Plus as a bonus we the fans will know that our money is going to a team of true gamers.
Do you have a main character yet? If not you might want to check out my sonic oc.
I'm thinking about several main characters with multiple alternative starts, and with multiple playable companions each!
ChatGPT could do that too, but it sounds kinda tedious to run the query so many times though, so maybe have chatGPT code a bot to come up with all the missions.
Hold on... are you an ideas guy? My company has been desperately trying to find someone to fill that role but we just can't find anyone. Just say you're interested and name your salary and you've got the job, we're honestly desperate at this point.
Open-world, crafting, survival, zombies, moba, boomer shooter, co-op, mmo, third person, dark souls, cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic
No, no, here is the detailed idea: https://hexbear.net/comment/3596815
But the aliens' computers could include all those minigames!
2D pixel graphics RPG/platformer and the monsters are a metaphor for crippling depression and anxiety
Okay, check this idea out. What if we did an online game with 10,000 customizable playable races and a fully realized market economy in a totally authentic medival kingdom with wizards and dragons but... wait for it because this is the real kicker... lagless code. We're going to create a game with zero lag. Its going to be the best game ever.
Nah, you need at least 2 postdocs in advanced bedsheet deformation physics.
For all his fault the man does apparently know how to run a game studio doesn't he? Most of his stuff is quality work shipped on time. It's only MGS V which kind of went through delay after delay but then honestly the man's been trying to quit that series ever since MGS 2 and he keeps getting roped back in, I'm not convinced he didn't pull that shit on purpose.
As I already explained, it will have NFTs, every time you die you'll have to purchase another one with the official game cryptocoin
I see... and it has the added advantage of promoting the competitive aspect of the game by attaching everyone's lives, and by extension deaths, to the public blockchain cloud, brilliant!
Yes of course!, it's my game so I'll be questioning and complaining every single thing programmers and artists do, micromanaging is how details get done good
Then the massive multiplayer aspect will be tested by the NFT eaely bird buyers
aight-aight! good luck.. post for testers and I'll help too if I see it.
ok if I may what you should do is sell the early bird NFT's and then not make a game and just keep that money
try and get them to pay for the NFTs in real money being paid in bitcoin is bullshit
You left out the most important part! How much money is it going to make?
For funding reasons it could have several tiers of early birds, who could help the dev team (me) via monthly purchases of collectibles and accesories for the incoming game.
I'm thinking about maybe cool unique saddles, alien desperados gangs, cool lances for human-led malones, things like that
Mood man, there's been a dedicated "game I want to make" permanent folder in the back of my brain for a while now. So far I think it's basically a long rpg with like a rhythm-based version of Your Only Move is HUSTLE for the combat system.
That probably makes no sense, guess I'll have to try and make it so that everyone will see how cool it is. It's like everything's boppin to the beat to facilitate blocking attacks on the enemy turn, and on your turn you're queueing up juggling combos made from the party members' individual moves.
(I want it to involve collapsing a slave empire too, so that I can avoid all the pesky moral considerations of fighting waves of nameless baddies.)
That's great. I wonder how many awesome ideas people have for games just sitting in the backs of their heads (ignoring the grifty ideas). Mine has been a roguelike with item crafting and ARPG mechanics.
Well we sorta share the arpg part, we should start a dev studio and combine ideas. (We will arm wrestle to determine who has to do all the art and coding)
Lol I already did start with the coding a while ago but decided I really hated the idea of coding all the collision detection stuff. I did make the system for generating items and stats, though.
I'm thinking every NPC could be an independent instance of ChatGPT so they learn and evolve organically and never ran out of lines nor can they be dialogue-tree min-maxed
half-cocked
The game will have realistic sex of course but actually I don't want it to be the central topic
Yes indeed, but I still need to finish Disco Elysium. I have a big problem finishing games
That means something very different and far more cursed in the gamedev world
I'm sure glad my thing only happens with games and not other actually important things from IRL
actually spoilers
I mean, I was a little surprised to see it actually existed, but I definitely wouldn't give away the fact that it talks to you
Yeah I actually mean it, just wanted to reply to them without spoiling you
Congratulations, you've just invented being a Hollywood Producer.
Incidentally, I did actually have a high school friend who worked his way up from schlub coder at EA to lead developer at Zynga to indie development at his own studio and is now an Executive Producer at Riot Games. Dude has some legitimate good ideas and I hope he's able to put them into action. But its a long walk and plenty of very bright and talented people never make it to the top entirely thanks to the whims of the investor class.
Congratulations, you've just invented being a Hollywood Producer.
No, I don't have money
