The movie industry like every other industry goes through these cycles but for whatever reason they are one of the few industries that must publicly complain about it the whole time. Film industry is also one of the few industries that can craft their audiences/customers taste and expectations but also blame them for their their tastes and expectations.
I was under the impression that every single capitalist on earth is constantly complaining about how they can’t make enough money (blaming anyone and anything except themselves and capitalism).

A healthy chunk of the film industry budget goes to self promotion. So there's a ton of naval gazing every time you spend $50M on a marketing campaign and yet nobody shows
