I haven't been able to eat anything substantial for 4 days holy shit.

Fuck the assholes that let this spread.

"Just the flu" my ass

Ate yoghurt yesterday, threw it up. Ate half an apple today hoping it stays down.

Time is passing so slowly. This is agony.

Yes this sounds like one of my COVID bouts and also how some other people I know had it.

I will echo the sentiment of others here which is keep your strength up whatever that looks like for you and rest rest rest. You will get through it comrade

That's how mine went in December. Paxlovid helped, albeit not with the nausea.

Decades of migraine experience has led me to learn that there's a 20-minute window after you vomit where you'll get the good endorphins and have a good chance of putting your affairs in order - i.e., have a few sips of water, get a fresh ice pack, find the most comfortable position, focus on your breathing. If you can pass out then you have a good chance of being significantly less nauseated when next you awaken and you can Saltine yourself back to life.

I mean, weed is good for all that, but I'm guessing if that was an option you'd have certainly tried it already.

Headaches run in my family, and some swear by lidocaine patches. Never did much for me, but shouldn't hurt to try.

I had a piercing headache where I basically moaned in bed for 24 hours and also couldn't eat or drink because the slightest bit of water going down made me throw up

But it stopped after 24 hours

I had that for one day last time I caught it (Christmas to NY 2024). Got woozy/blurred vision when focussing short or long distance so couldn't read or walk. It was terrifying like there was a two minute stretch where my vision literally blacked out. If you have any leave from work/can afford to take time off, now is definitely the time to use it.

I just lay down, drank ginger tea to settle my stomach (apparently liquorice and peppermint are good for that too?) and tried to focus my eyes on sth middle distance (pot plant on the other side of the room/tree outside the window). Apart from that I slept or did low key stuff while lying on my side (so mucus/phlegm didn't build up and cause a coughing fit). This may sound weird too, I found that humming helped, because I wasn't talking as much and it really was rough when I needed to speak again. Humming kept my vocal chords active without straining them.

I think having liquid meals in general is a safe bet so soups and uncaffeinated drinks. When you feel up to it, try to get some exercise in, even if it's just a walk to the front gate, then around the block, bit further each time.

Hang in there, hoping you're feeling better soon.

had the nausea at least last week (still have covid, different symptoms though) ... ginger + lemon tea helped me when i was toilet hugging, but i was eating like a couple hundred calories for a few days there. i was taking tylenol every 4 hours religiously and eating as soon as it kicked in as the nausea would get bad when the dose was wearing off. also, i found taking 2 500mg tylenol at 11pm and 3am led to me being able to sleep ok, almost felt normal. (note that there's a daily max for tylenol you don't want to exceed, 4g according to the bottle i have, so that's a total of 8 500mg tablets)

I had really bad upset stomach, a serious earache that was making my teeth on that side hurt, and the tip of my tongue stopped tasting for two days. Not sure it was COVID, but it was the weirdest set of symptoms I've had in a long time.

don't worry about substantial eating and just focus on keeping small things down. don't over eat even if you 'feel' hungry. just focus on keeping whatever you can eat or drink down.
