modern cruise ships are also huge, fast and tough to sink.

    huge? yes
    fast? not really
tough to sink? yes vs icebergs and random crap in the sea, doubt they would hold up to anti-ship missiles

China should do a world in conflict soviet assault but instead of landing troops in cargo ships its just a bunch of Chinese boomers on a cruise ship. Taiwan's snow crab leg supply would never survive.

Unleashing thousands of elderly vacationers with cheap high quality digital cameras to do mass reconnaissance of the worst chain restaurants Taiwan has to offer.

"asianic hordes" that due to a lack of "judeo-christian values" don't value their own lives like "we" value ours. mindset is intentionally fostered and is a psychological trick to make targeting civilian populations easier, life isn't precious to them and if they don't value their own lives then why should we value their lives. their mothers hearts don't break like ours do from the loss of a child and when their fighters lay down their lives it isn't a great sacrifice to protect their loved ones or do what is right for a collective good but because they just don't value their own life. most recent history is how the US military and media used this in how they talked about afghan people. they used the same tactic during Vietnam, Korea, Kosovo/Serbia, Libya, and Somalia to name a few examples.

I actually completely forgot people said groups of chinese tourists were spies. Back then my brain had so many holes in it i didn't even question how absurd of a statement that was.

We can't have a retired boater boomer gap. If China can deploy thousands of retirees on cruise ships then carnival cruise lines has to match them and do better.

The bear and the dragon, one of his last bowel movements before the post Mortem shits his estate put out.

To my shame I was at one point a liberal who was all like “hell yeah, why don’t we team up with Russia now we are on the same side”.

It’s like a part of the unholy Trinity alongside the chuds who team up somebody on the “bad list” to nuke the superbowl and Japan doing a 9/11 against congress and wiping out everyone except the VP.

Truly a unique mind if nothing else.

I think from a realpolitik point of view that was probably the best course of action for the West. Of course, that would have required the US to restrain its capitalists from looting Russia in the 90s, which was never going to happen.

I hope Kissinger shits himself every day, even more than he would anyway at one million years old, in fear reflecting on how badly the deep state's largest failsons fucked up his Sino-American rapprochement - Soviet collapse under imperialism - Partner with newly capitalist Russia to win counter-revolution in the PRC maneuver

Pissing away long term dominance over all of Eurasia for one moment of unbridled greed is extremely on-brand foe the US.

Kissinger is like the one Go master in the entire country looking on in shock as the Checkers players who took over after him "fix" his positions.

Think Tank Ghoul #8913: "Russian man yellow. Yellow man bad."

They're terrified because until this year there were two types of high-end civilian ships China could not build competitively - cruise liners and LNG carriers.

Now Chinese ship builders have cracked both so there are no more high-profit low-volume niches for Westoid shipbuilders to hide in. Western (or even South Korean) shipyards will become increasingly reliant on government subsidies to stay afloat, which will be extremely expensive since even with subsidies they will find it hard to compete with the scale advantage of Chinese yards.

The last arrow in the Western quiver is to paint Chinese cruise ships and LNG carriers as national security risks to justify sanctions and prevent Western cruise companies from buying from them.
