I think it's the automod equivalent of a 419 scam. It naturally screens the population down to liberal word-policing caricatures and guarantees the extra-reactionary T_D types can't get their feet in the door (since any post inevitably involves some combination of "stupid leftist" and "Venezuela").

If you're able to make comments in LSC without getting the boot, you were already part of the hivemind.

Terms like "dumb," "crazy," "insane," and "delusional" are ableist and we should avoid using them when we can, but they are so ingrained in the lexicon that it is absolutely ins... foolish to treat using them like a hanging offence. This is the way common people talk, for better or worse. Not to say it is something we can't change, but without finding common cause with the people, few will follow our lead.

It is easy to get caught up in the never-ending battle of trying to root out opportunists and reactionaries, but there is a reason why doctrinaire theoreticians have historically found themselves alienated from the working class. A saintly devotion to doctrine is commendable, but no one will be there to commend you if you find yourself all alone in an ivory tower.

I think the feds, as well as Capital in a broader sense, have played a big part in the trajectory of the academic left. They really can't have universities being hotbeds of Marxist materialism, but it's fine if they're filled with radlib wokescolds whose main concerns are basically just not being mean in interpersonal encounters.

One of the funniest things I've learned is that the CIA supported and pushed abstract art because it was seen as a way to push individualism and idealism.

Terms like dumb are ableist in origin, but most of the time I feel like they have become so idiomatic that they are almost entirely divorced from that origin.

But then I have to consider that I am a straight, white, able-bodied, middle class male living in the imperial core, practically privilege personified, and I have heard bigots use the idiomatic argument to justify saying the n-word or removed or whatever. So now I still use them, but after I do I stop to consider whether or not it was wrong to do so and hope someone else will figure it out for me.
