It has been fun watching libs melt down on the internet after they realized the courts are beyond saving, though some of my leftist friends are legitimately scared for what comes next. If Trump/Barr steals the election, would you try to contest it through direct action?
OTOH I don’t like the idea of risking my skin for Copmala and Joe, but OTOH this could be a chance to radicalize people and build networks of agitators. Not to mention each year, Chuds are stockpiling arms and (slowly) organizing.
It’s a hypothetical, but what do people think? Persuade me.
The problem is that if Trump steals the election (which I think he will assuming it isn't a blowout in his favor) it's going to look identical to 2000. The Republicans control swing state governments and courts at every level which means they can disqualify ballots with ease. Maybe things are different now than they were in 2000, but the Democratic party isn't going to organize a street movement/insurrection and they are the only institution besides the military that could seriously challenge a fraudulent Trump victory.
If you want to riot, nobody here is going to say no. There definitely will be a lot of people who radicalize if it isn't a sweeping victory and we need to be there to pick them up. There will be no contesting the election from the left though.
Absolutely worth doing. Supporting the dems is a little bit low energy, but an organized movement to project power outside of traditional means like “calling your senator” or whatever has immense value just in showing the American people that other avenues exist to exercise power.
