I'm sure America's vassal state is always 100% honest and reputable when it comes to reporting on the nature of it's communist, northern counterpart. I'm also sure South Korea's wildly conservative and deranged social structuring plays no role in this sort of 'reporting' either.

ok so i think the real reddit users in there were the ones being racist 'id rather die than listen to foreign music hyuk hyuk' and the ones rolling their eyes at the credulous belief of the story

everything else was astroturf. i need to believe this for my health

You’re probably not far off with how heavily that site is astroturfed. Their attitude on domestic politics, Russia, and Israel differ too much from the average person

K-pop to me is like the musical equivalent of extremely over-processed cheese. It's so corporate I feel like I can hear the execs jacking it to CP in the background of every track.

From what I understand of the k-pop industry, most of those execs have been inside the artists themselves

Isn't Kim Jon un a kpop fan? I know that north korea has hosted kpop concerts in the past where Kim Jon un even shook hands with thr singers. North korea also produces music that is in the same genre as kpop. There was even that recent Kim jon un theme song which got popular in south korea lmao.
