The Jefferson County grand jury will present its report on the Breonna Taylor case to Jefferson Circuit Judge Annie O’Connell at 1:15 p.m., the Administrative Office of the Courts confirmed.
Additionally, Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron will discuss the decision in the shooting death of the 26-year-old ER technician by Louisville police in March this afternoon, USA Today/The Courier Journal also has learned.
The press conference will be at the Kentucky History Center and Museum in Frankfort at 1:30 p.m., the Kentucky Attorney General's Office later confirmed.
Kentucky State Police cars and orange cones were already blocking off the Kentucky History Center Wednesday morning.
More than six months after Taylor was fatally shot in her apartment, Louisville has anxiously waited to hear if Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly, Detective Myles Cosgrove and former detective Brett Hankison will be charged for firing their weapons that night. Taylor was shot five times, though officials have not publicly said which officer or officers shot her.
The museum announced it was closed for the day, and workers there said an event had been planned.
The Wesley Center Day School, in Frankfort, told parents it would be closing early on Wednesday after it "received word" Cameron's decision in the case would be made at a nearby history center.
"Taking this information and the unknown of what this afternoon will look like, WCDS will be closing at noon today," Erin Spoonamore, the day care center's director, said in a Wednesday morning email.
The Rev. Phil Hill, pastor at First United Methodist Church of Frankfort which oversees the day care center, confirmed the Taylor case was why they chose to close early.
"We've been instructed by our day care's board of directors to do that," Hill said. "That's the word we are getting."
The Kentucky Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers also sent out an email to its members saying a decision in the Taylor case would be made at 1:30 p.m.
A sign lists the Kentucky History Center & Museums closed in anticipation of a Breonna Taylor announcement. Lonita Baker, an attorney for Taylor's family, said as of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, said they have not heard any information from the attorney general's office about the decision, what time or when it will be announced.
Louisville has anxiously awaited a decision in the Taylor shooting, which has spurred more than 125 days of protest in the city and set off a national cry for "justice for Breonna," with celebrities and politicians from Joe Biden to Beyonce to LeBron James calling for the arrest of the officers who shot her.
3 counts of 1st degree Wanton Endangerment, only for Brett Hankison - the other officers were NOT indicted.
Literally a slap on the wrist according to what I'm seeing on Google:
First-degree wanton endangerment is a Class D felony, punishable with fines of up to $10,000 and up to five years in prison.
EDIT: Supposedly, the way these charges came about is because of the bullets that ended up in other apartments. He is not even being charged with shooting and killing Breonna.
Meanwhile, in Utah they're charging a woman with life in prison for buying red paint that was used to vandalize a police building. And in New York, life in prison for burning a police car. And in Oregon, ten years for swinging a hammer at a fed.
Motherfuckers. If the facts were "cops try to serve warrant, accidentally kick down white guy's door and shoot white guy's unarmed girlfriend" then these cops would be in jail.
police press release declaring that in order to combat systemic racial injustice, they will now be executing one poor white person everytime they murder a black person. payperview tickets go on sale thursday
