I was in a play festival and the backstage had gender neutral shared bathrooms (like rows of stalls, urinals had temporary stalls put around them as well). No one freaked out. The dudes were a little upset because all the sinks were occupied by people applying makeup instead of using the green room. But it was all normal and copacetic.
