Aside from more hilarious gaffes, will they do something really stupid like try to argue he's unpopular or illegitimate because he got shot at?

I know Biden said he hadn't heard the news, which was hilarious frankly.

biden-alert He just got shot? Wow. I didn’t know that. I just — you’re telling me now for the first time. He leads an amazing life. What else can you say? He is an amazing man. Whether you agree or not, he is an amazing man who leads an amazing life. I’m actually saddened to hear that. I am saddened to hear that.

It's like that time when Sanders, who ostensibly wanted to use the presidency to fight for Medicare for All, suspended his campaign out of concern for spreading covid, concerns not at all shared by those who stayed in the race.

      Deeply unserious 'democracy' folks

It's not really about respect, it's the fact that his slogan was "let's finish the job"

I'd eat shit out of my own asshole if Biden does anything other than sympathize with Trump and do the whole unity bipartisanship shtick because his brain is mush and his inner circle are cowards.

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris received briefings on the incident, with Biden saying he was "grateful to hear" that Trump was safe and asserting that there was "no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it"

Would you like extra pepper with that shit?

If I read the original comment correctly, that is exactly the outcome that avoids the shit feat.

The only way this could get even more ridiculous is if Biden holds a press conference on this where he's instructed to say he stands against political violence, but then ends up making various gaffes that make it sound like he actually supports the shooter. che-smile Dems will lose their shit and demand he steps down immediately, Blue MAGA will aggressively defend him, and chuds will use these gaffes as an official declaration of war. And you've officially entered the cool-zone

Biden will believe it's a false flag and accidentally get shot in the head trying to set up a similar event.
