Does its existence desensitize pervs and make abuse more likely, or does it provide an outlet such that they'll be less likely to abuse? Are there any research papers on this?

    I can't wait for the historic court descisions that decide what makes an anime character look too young, and then the inevitable litany of anime characters that skirt the legal line as closely as they can.
