Daily reminder that running is trash, and walking is king

healthy people in traditional cultures walked everywhere. Literally nobody was ever running 5 miles daily, ever. This never happened.

In free and liberated US, we have sprawling communities with a lack of sidewalks to prevent black people from walking on them. So instead we drive everywhere and then are expected to "run 7 miles" to make up for the lack of exercise that we missed while driving to work.

"Already run a marathon? Running three of them may be the next step up for your life---here's how. " Holy fuck I hate these thinkpieces from pocket or medium or whatever, what kind of actual braindead automaton would think that running 7 miles a day is good for you, and even if it was that it was an even remotely reasonable thing to expect a person to do?

I'd imagine getting a bit of high-intensity exercise in each week is good for you, but piling on more and more exercise into your life and making that the primary counteracting force to all the other shit that makes us all so unhealthy isn't good either.

Running is the most wasteful exercise. It doesn’t burn that much calories neither does it gain you muscle mass.
