I know he’s crazy and spreads obvious misinformation. Is there any other big grifters that rival Alex Jones?

I don’t know if you count as a grifter if you yourself have drunk the kool aid. Dude has literally lost his wife and kids because he’s a psycho lol.

Yeah all you libs here really need to tighten up your definition of "grifter." It's thrown around for all sorts of mundane shit now -- you've probably been listening to that right-wing "Chapo Trap House" podcast again.

Making money (by itself) does not make one a grifter. A politician not quitting a race to start a protracted people's war does not make one a grifter. Saying QAnon-level shit (again, by itself) does not make one a grifter.

To be a grifter one must:

      1. Sell some slop
      2. They don't actually believe in
      3. For profit.

Alex Jones skips straight from 1 to 3.

He'd have to be one hell of an actor to go on those unhinged, off-the-cuff monologues he's done every day, for hours, for multiple decades now if it's something he doesn't believe in.

            Not really. Just amoral.

I mean, he's basically doing a professional wrestling bit, just without the wrestling.

And without most of his audience being aware of the kayfabe.

Did Jones claim the entire thing/Alex Jones show was an act in the legal case for custody over his kids? Thus making him a grifter because he actually doesn't believe this stuff? Or was the legal case an act to try maintain some custody over his kid and he actually believes the frogs are turning gay? At this point I don't even know how many layers this thing has.

The same trial where he claimed he couldn't remember how old his kids were because he just ate a big bowl of chili.

Yep. His claim for being a fit parent was literally that his Infowars antics shouldn't be taken into account because it's entertainment, him acting for money, aka grifting.

In the scheme of things, right wing radio is small potatoes. I think someone like Joel Osteen is closer to the mark. Oprah is right up there, too

Andy Ngo is now sending out letters to elderly people talking about how he needs money to fight the scary scary A.N.T.I.F.A. super soldiers.

Like a goddamn televangelist. Or that fake church that sends you a "prayer rug" made of paper in the mail.

That's, like, the griftiest thing I've seen in quite a while.
