A tour guide excitedly teaching the youth about Marx and Engels. At the site of the first CPC congress in Shanghai. Super cool to see.

Meanwhile the youth of the USA are taught about the founding fathers: a group of slavers who created a world where they would be at the very top.

Outcome: school shooter capital of the world.

Yup, it really is refreshing to be in a country where not only is Marxism not some huge boogeyman, but is actually revered and taught as something to be proud of. Especially when that country is absolutely thriving and doing much better than every single country in the west.

I was a wee little lad in socialist Poland and we never have Marx and Engels tour. Fucking nationalist revisionists didn't even tried to enact any kind of cultural revolution after getting power in 1956 and just went straight back to XIX century nationalism.

From my experience, Romanians really tend to misinterpret their socialism too. Sure there were mistakes, maybe (or maybe not) most of all socialist countries, but the results were also undeniable social advancement as everywhere, but for some reason liberal slogans are being peddled everywhere even by current Romanian ML's. Seems strangely similar to Polish information bubble victims who even if really trying to free themselves from it, are being inevitably pushed to ultra positions by the pervasiveness of the bubble which don't have just 99% media coverage but also numerous savety valves into socialdemocracy, anarchism, trotskyism and ultracommunism. Really the only way to get free is to fortunately stumble upon some real info in the English-language internet since that's not censored here, but is still incredibly niche.

I hate to be a party pooper contrarian, but you can do this tour if you’re ever in Chicago. I heartily recommend it and the architecture riverboat tour!
