The second date went even better than the first one. The vibes were just great all around. The third date is in a couple of days and should be really chill. By now, I'm almost certain there will be a fourth and a fifth date at least. I don't want to jinx it, but I can see us becoming a couple. There's a pretty strong chemistry between us, and we get along really well so far.

love having to consider that i may get my head bashed in travelling to and from university now, and there are still hindus in my community defending the tories and spreading anti-immigration and islamophobic propaganda. there are literal nazis on the streets targeting all black and asian people and some hindus still feel like we're a model minority and untouchable or something. nazis don't fucking care

this reminds me, before the election the hindu manifesto came out, which is already somewhat conservative, but then people in my family started spreading whatsapp messages telling hindus to disavow the hindu manifesto because it doesn't explicitly endorse our hindu prime minister rishi sunak

    come vent

I'm genuinely mad that black people in America are STILL rockin' with the DNC. They are terrible party with terrible politics who have done wrong by our people time and time again. I don't mean this in some weird-ass black republican way, more in the cool black leftist way. I really want modern black America to understand what Fred Hampton said not to long ago

" We've got to face the fact that some people say you fight fire best with fire, but we say you put fire out best with water. We say you don't fight racism with racism. We're gonna fight racism with solidarity. We say you don't fight capitalism with no black capitalism; you fight capitalism with socialism." - Fred Hampton

Meeting people is getting slightly easier for me. Just "putting yourself out there" actually does work, it just takes time. I haven't made any lifelong friends or anything yet, but I have met some cool people. I'm mostly doing in the nerdy dorky places like meet ups and conventions and stuff, but it seems surprising to see the many different types of people who also like computers and shit.

    joke

    I got no jokes.

I aced all my summer school courses. Slowly but surely fixing my academic past behaviors and hopefully will create better opportunities for myself in the future.

I'm not a watch guy, but I recently bought a Casio for about 30 bucks. While this isn’t the model I own, I really dig the basic yet functional look.

You can get the model below for less than 20€, which seems pretty reasonable for a battery life between 7-10 years. But then again, I'm not a watch guy, I just like the look of many Casio watches

A BIPOC friend of mine made a good point about characterising all of the anti-immigrant demonstrations as being from the far-right (eg. Reform UK, Tommy Robinson, etc.).

They noticed that a lot of supposedly "well-meaning", "level-headed" liberals (including Liberal Democrat voters apparently, ironic ) were in open support of the protests and riots. As in, "no illegal immigration" and wanting to "protect" others as if BIPOC are some monolithic enemy.

    offtopic

And these same people will then go on to condemn BIPOC-oriented and BIPOC-only spaces as "discrimination" and as "reverse racism" while they discuss in detail the reasons that they aren't welcome.

So despite the reasoning behind these demonstrations being rooted in facism, "anti-facists" (liberals) will regularly side with them and white supremacy over the safety and existence of BIPOC people. I do not expect much from liberals rega rdless, but the amount of mask-off racism that my friend had encountered then is truly staggering.

I go to a British school where the race education group is based at (see my profile for more info).

I'm sure you guys have heard of the racist, anti-immigrant protests and riots that have been happening here and our members - most of which are BIPOC - are very worried about them. There are also rumours of a very local protest at the immigration centre happening tomorrow, so it's safe to say that we'll have to stay very diligent for now.

And it's the summer holidays, meaning we can't take much action apart from going outside in groups in daylight and updating ourselves on potential demonstrations. Hopefully these demonstrations lose steam before anyone gets killed.

(please tell me if I should CW this comment)

Yeah, it's going better than I could have imagined. We're both really into each other, and I think they're super cool and fun to be around. I might have been selling myself a bit short. I guess being a history/politics nerd can be hot for some people ?

    lets-fucking-go Sheikh Kasina is gone!!!

Being a desi person has never felt so hype. People fought back and now the Bangladesi state knows it can't fuck with people's lives anymore like they're worthless. Whatever government comes into power is still going to continue where Sheikh Kasina ended off with building up Bangladesh's productive capacity.

    hypeeee

On Lemmygrad, tho, it seems they're quite skeptical; they think this could possibly a color revolution in disguise, that turns the country geopolitically aligned with the west...

They're probably more right about that, but I hope Bangladesh isn't as much of a slam dunk as Pakistan was. Sheikh Kasina isn't a socialist though (very demsucc adjacent) so I don't know how much worse a new government could be. Bengali economic cooperation with China and Russia as well as India seems very set in stone for the country's development that any new government would continue those same agreements.

If they don't then... well played imperialist ghouls. I'm just really emotional at the moment and it's the one thing my whole family is talking about.
