It's their worst album, although that's more of a testament to how good Brutalism and Joy were. My biggest gripe with Ultra Mono is how on the nose it is, although the instrumentals are amazing. War, Model Village, A Hymn, and Danke are my favourites.

yea tbh after a few listens i definitely think it's their weakest album by far, but still pretty enjoyable

the lyrics are the absolute worst part, Ne Touche Pas Moi made me wanna die especially

It's very telling the best lyric on it is the opening of Danke, which is a quote of a Daniel Johnston song, although that's part of the reason I love it.

yea, Idles always had fairly cheesy lyrics but it worked in the previous albums much better, im honestly not too sure what happened on this one

lol idles is like THE band for libs who are scared to go to underground punk shows who went "this means punk music will rise from the dead >: )" in response to donald trump being elected

glad to see the chapo abhorrent taste in music carried over from reddit

it's definitely very surface-level leftism but honestly i dont really see that as wrong, not every album has to be an mp3 of Capital.

Joy had a pro-immigrant song at a time when anti-immigrant thinking was popular, which is pretty great imo

nah it's a solid rock band. they don't even claim to be a punk band.
