Maybe someone else remembers, but I swear there was a case of a known Black Panther in the 60s/70s who shot and wounded a cop that was illegally arresting and brutalized his comrade, and the court ruled the shooting of the pig justified because there was no cause for arrest and the cop was plain-clothed I think. I can't imagine that ever happening today.

I think it's wrong to libel the victim of attempted homicide while participating in a criminal conspiracy to cover up the murder their partner, but I guess that's why I'm not a US federal judge.

To be clear, since they didn't announce themselves, this effectively means it's illegal to shoot at a home invader breaking the door of your home down ever until you confirm that they are not a police officer.
