Remember how vested people were about the French and UK elections? Yet no one cared or care about Canada. American lefties can name Boris, Corbyn, Macron, La Pen by name. But no one knows Jagmeet Singh, even though Canada is like right next to Murica.

Funny!

I heard Jagmeet was like a "diet leftist" distraction who stood no chance of winning, similar to Shahid vs. Pelosi. Also I watch a bunch of Canadian politics streams and they all literally only talk about american politics lol

Singh is ... ok. He was a good spokesperson for social democracy during the last election, but during the NDP leadership race he showed himself to be a very cynical opportunist. I recall thinking of him as an empty suit willing to say whatever he thought the most popular sentiment in the room was. He also lied about things he was on record as saying (he opposed the new Ontario school curriculum that was more LGBT+ inclusive, at the behest of religious conservatives in his district as an MLA, and then lied about saying even though you can literally just google it)

The NDP single handedly made the pandemic actually bearable for working class folks by forcing the liberals to make the CERB $2000 a month instead of $1000 and also held up the government by making the Libs implement paid sick leave on a federal level, but other than that they’ve been pretty milquetoast.
