    Another Jacobin L

    Movie sucks out loud

Quite possibly the epitome of "You loved it the first time, you'll love it regurgitated in 4K Ultra HD!"

It sounds like a whole lot of "I saw the thing and I clapped." blob-sleep

      Show

        Pretty much

Like, Alien: Romulus at least had some decent bones to it, even if it gets weighed down by trying to connect itself to the rest of the films

Beetlejuice 2 just feels lazy, like nobody at any point gave a shit

Basically the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, but for people in their 30's and 40's

That's exactly how I felt about it. It felt like a solid sci-fi film that had the unfortunate burden of having to be a "franchise sci-fi film".

Sleepy Hollow is pretty mid though. Big Fish and Corpse Bride are better than that one imo, maybe throw in Sweeney Todd and Frankenweenie too

but he really fell off when he started doing shit like Alice in Wonderland and Dumbo

I went to an opening-day late showing of that Alice movie. The entire crowd was packed with people who were obviously into various gothy-esque subcultures. Probably a third of the crowed had left by the middle of the movie. Ad-hoc riffing on the movie started among the entire crowd when we all realized what we were watching. And you could hear a pin drop during Johnny Depp's dance scene.

I still haven't seen it, but from the posters it looks like there's way too much emphasis on Depp in general. It's supposed to be Alice in Wonderland, not the fucking Mad Hatter Movie. I'm tempted to watch it out of morbid curiousity and because the sets and costumes look cool but I don't think I can handle that much of Johnny Depp's bullshit, especially if there's a dance scene.

Mia Wasikowska is great and deserved so much better.

Yeah, trying to make the damn Mad Hatter to be Alice's love interest was astonishingly stupid and inappropriate. But Depp was a brand unto himself at that time, he could make a lot of demands.

but I don't think I can handle that much of Johnny Depp's bullshit, especially if there's a dance scene.

Behold the horror. In the theatre it was totally silent during this. The whole crowd was looking at each other in "am I really seeing this?" incredulity.

      He's incredibly played out. He's self-Flanderizing.

The first Beatlejuice wasn't that great either. Well, I guess it's more that the character sucks. He's just a creep, there's nothing redeeming about him and if that was part of the point it didn't come across
