My first thought is: They were hiding the state of Biden's health.
But, the state of Biden's health was obvious before he was elected. It was obvious before he was the nominee. It was so badly hidden, that i don't think you can claim it was a secret or hidden. No one cared until it was obvious that he wouldn't win this election.
