Yeah I was talking to my sister about how civilizations will fall in the not-too-distant future and humans are actually gonna go extinct

And she was just like „Maybe that won’t be so bad“

    And like

We‘re bougie 20-year-olds in Germany, shit hopefully won’t hit the fan until we’re like 60. The two of us will probably be fine. But our kids? And god forbid our grandkids?? Like, we might be the last generation to have somewhat of a normal life. This is real. This is happening NOW. To US. And we all know it. And, most importantly, it’s entirely preventable.

But people, normal people, just shrug and say „Ah well, extinction it is* 🤷‍♀️

"how dare you deny people to live their life to the fullest. consumption is the only worthwhile form expression, btw"

That's a completely valid reason to not want kids, but I don't think it's cruel. They could just as easily be the generation to save our old asses from doomsday. In fact they fucking have to be.

I‘m lucky to not suffer from depression but if I ever do get it it will be because of my climate anxiety. Even though I don’t think I personally will be affected that badly it still weighs me down all the time.

I could not bear to have kids, I would worry so so much more. I don’t think I could take it.
