I work at a restaurant, and we can talk about the utter bullshit a tip system is, but with DoorDash, we don’t see any tips from those orders. So now, in a time when hours are slashed and staff is stretched thin, a rise in DoorDash orders means extra work with no real compensation for it outside of minimum wage.
You know, I used to find it a bit sleazy that a lot of restaurants would calculate the tip based on the total + tax, rather than just the total (which is how it's supposed to be done)
A bit sleazy, but it's still just pennies. With Doordash, Grubhub, etc I've seen all sorts of nonsense charges for like $3 each. You order a $15 meal and it comes out to $25. It's actual trash and the owners should all be rounded up and ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugged)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Anything but a gig app. Just be sure to tip well. Delivery based in brick and mortar stores is still ripe with labor abuse, but at least it's just wage slavery and not tenant farming with tech characteristics.
Just don't ever use doordash if you can help it
I'd rather just eat my food at home and donate $10 to a homeless guy and have him listen to me talk about communism for a few minutes or something
