Where they spend 5 minutes talking about the political news. Than spend an hour plus dissecting some shit movie/show no one cares about.

Literally the least interesting podcast I'm still subscribed to. How do they really look around at the world right now and discuss almost nothing but frivolous bullshit? There are real struggles going on every week and yet I hear nothing from Chapo.
They weren't built for what's going on now. I kinda got away from them after they went on near-complete radio silence on the BLM protests this year, but I've gotten back in recently. Because I've just accepted them for what they are... they like to joke about what's going on and be mostly unserious about it. I think that's their wheelhouse and what they're comfortable with. They don't handle serious things very well and recently shit has gotten serious. And that's more or less fine I guess, not everyone can be Rev Left. But yeah, I just take them less seriously, they aren't at the top of the queue anymore.
That said I do want to hear what they have to about Trump getting COVID, because that shit's funny and is a bit fat one hanging over the plate for the Chapos.
I think it's ironic that one of the first episodes after Bernie lost was on Jon Stewart's movie Irresistible and the biggest theme was how all satirical leftist pundit types eventually become irrelevant.
yeah that's the beauty of it. and also every major political event happens right after tuesday?? what tf is it a conspiracy? im not gonna pay your patreon just to know what you think about trump getting covid.
Well since Bernie dropped out every patreon episode has been a movie review our some interview with some hollywood lefty.
jesus fuck
More than that, who the fuck cares anymore about any of the intra-DNC/RNC/pol-media figure cat-fights, like seriously I get that they're electoralists but for fucks sake, the world is burning, people are in the streets STILL everywhere, I don't give a fuck about a bunch of pundits.
i do look forward to the next episode of virgil saying that having kids is bad unless it's a fetish, and everyone talking over amber.
Any reccommendations?
Rev Left Radio - essential overall
Red Menace - essential theory
The Red Nation Podcast - Much needed indigenous voices for socialism and liberation.
Liberation Audio - Good analysis of day-day news events, produced by the PSL.
Trillbillies Worker Party - Your most direct Chapo replacement, they're pretty damn good
Its Not Just In Your Head - A much needed emotional/psychological assessment from licensed therapists
Cosmopod - Pretty good historical content as well as analysis, though obviously from a very specific party lens.
Nostalgia Trap - Pretty good interviews with academics who aren't that liberal, and quite a bit of good media analysis.
this is almost everything I've been listening to, really great list
Thanks! Its hard watching the podcasts that really started the boom in the platform veer off into frivolous punditry. I can only hope that the podcasts that have grown out of the huge holes of needed commentary missed by the name-brand podcasts today maintain their energy and revolutionary voice.
If they don't, I'm sure comrades will always rise to the occasions and provide a voice for the real revolutionary movement.
:sankara-salute:
Beep Beep lettuce is pretty good for Chapo style rifts without having to listen to Brooklyn boy Will Meneker
Idk if anybody’s said this yet but add Citations Needed to the list. They’re fantastic
Not including TrueAnon smdh
Thank you comrade
Trillbillies worker party is heavy on content.
Cuz they are a cia psy op.
If that's true then its a psy op that helped bring me to being an ML lol; a podcast that led us here, omg have I been COINTELPRO'd? :shocked-pikachu:
In all honesty. It's cuz will sucks ass. His wau more interested in talking about movies than the current state of trying to figure a way to mobilize people.

Eh, he can be a little too left-com for me, but he's certainly well informed historically, I just feel like he's a bit too nihilistic about the capabilities of proletarian movements of today
His nihlism is becuase he studies history. I have the same problem. You end up realizing that human society never corrects before disasters even if they know it's coming.
Yes, but out of these disasters people still remain, and these people are left to pick up the pieces or start anew. Whether or not there will even be a humanity to progress through 100 years from now is debatable but also irrelevant. If we're not organizing and treating situations like there's even a chance for rebuilding then we're only cementing our doom and forever subjugation. This applies even in the face of climate disaster and the fascist scramble that resulted from it. Any voice telling everyone that its already doomed is essentially confirming the suspicions of reactionary christians who are merely awaiting rapture. The entire point of our movement is getting people to realize that we need to act, and be an active and cooperative people if we have any chance of making it through the next couple centuries. Saying we're fucked now is just giving up. Yes, its scary and looks very bleak, but what good is defeatism of the very movements we support?
Plenty of people study history and don't become so nihilistic so I don't think it's just that. I find it hard to imagine Christman in an organiser context, which reminds me of a lot of my academic left-comm type friends who are super well read but just intractably cynical.
