Cushvlogs aren't a personality cult bro, you're taking it out of context bro, you just have to listen to >5 hours of grillstreams to understand the grillpill psychodialectic :matt: :grillman:

Edit: I want to be clear that I enjoy the Cushvlogs and am only making fun of my own personal tendency to feel a parasocial attachment to our Large Adult Son Matt . So go ahead and pin a big "/s" on the tail of this post. Irony is cancelled

it feels more like a heavily one-sided conversation with my weird uncle who is vaguely well-read than a cult tbh

I like the cushvlogs, don't agree with a lot of Matt's reads on things, but think there's definitely something worthwhile to be gleaned from thinking about our political behavior in terms of trying to fill a void of meaning or spiritual fulfillment left by living an incredibly alienated, atomized life while conditions worsen around you.

Man is not a damn prophet who will lead us all by the hand into getting shit done or singlehandedly synthesizing faith and communism though. I think most people recognize that.

Are there any particular episodes that are quite good, required listening?

He's had a few solo Chapo that I quite liked, like his ones on Upton Sinclair, The Weather Underground and the 18th Brumaire. Am I missing any good Matt analysis by skipping the Cushvlogs?

I'd probably just pick a recent one, honestly. The bits that I found interesting are all kind of strewn here and there.

When he first started them, he said he always thought of being an AM radio personality. I think of our local radio chud and hope one day Matt aspires to greater things than all these talk show psychos. The theories of parasocial attached stuff seems a little sus. If you live in a big city and spend time in the public eye, strangers will get to know you and wanna chat you up at a bar. Noam Chomsky answers random emails for christ sakes.

I really like when Matt different the History is a Weapon series with the dude from Antifada. Probably some of the best left wing podcast episodes out there.
