If you define your morality by who you vote for, you have to justify everything they do or otherwise you are a bad person.

Because they're not really harm reduction. If anything, Biden's administration will be the competent people who lay the groundwork for our future fascist dictatorship. I think it's a stronger argument of them accelerating things.

Acceleration isn't good either way. They will accelerate us straight to fascism. Even before the riots, Biden was running a fucking 'Law and Order' campaign. They wanted Klobachar until the George Floyd killing. Harris fits the same bill and they'll get to push for new authoritarian laws.

I 100% expect them to lay the groundwork for the next fascist to come out of the GOP and take advantage.

Acceleration usually goes by this blind belief that people will start organizing and coming together against the ruling class.

That isn't going to happen in America, cause truth be told, the left here is very very small. The left spends most of their time infighting over identity politics, rather than getting their shit together and uniting under the banner of working class. Rather than talking about the class war, our left focuses everything on identity politics and making excuses for why they aren't trying to unite the poor people who are 9 times out of 10, the ones out in the streets protesting.

We're headed towards either a complete collapse or a civil war, and the far right are the ones that are organized and have their shit together. Under a Biden/Harris presidency, you can bet money on them growing and organizing, cause suddenly the tables will be turned like back in the Obama years where the conservative media is the one playing offense and attacking a Dem administration constantly. The far right groups are already armed to the teeth and itching for this. They've had decades to prepare for it.

i thought it was optional, like they had the option to work for twelve cents an hour and often did because otherwise you're just bored doing nothing all day, and you can buy a twinkie once a week with the money or something

nope, it's forced. you go to solitary if you don't, which is basically psychological torture. it is literally slavery and chain gangs.

"i thought it was optional, like they had the option to work for twelve cents an hour and often did because otherwise you’re just bored doing nothing all day,"

Chris Hedges speaks on this often, it's not boredom that makes prisoners work. US prisons are fully privatised internally, and the companies who run everything are price gouging prisoners. So if you want to speak with your family once a month you have to pay exorbitant phone rates. We basically take away prisoners humanity and sell it back to them, but only as long as they work for slave labor wages.

Why unions are screaming about this issue I don't understand, every major US company is by now completely dependent on prison slave labor in their supply chain, it has completely undermined labors power to negotiate, and as hellworld continues politicians will receive more bribes from the prison industrial complex and find news ways of putting more people into the machine.

Even if it was just work or be bored in a cell, thats still a coercive choice. "you only get to see sunlight if you do labor for me" is still slavery.

Just this once, I will forgive the fake mosaic where they obviously just tinted each tile using the color of the subject photo.
